The companions of CUMREC '97 attendees are invited to participatein our "EXPLORE ST. LOUIS" program. This two-day eventis designed to enrich your experience and perception of the historyof St. Louis.

MONDAY, May 12, 9:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Tour of the Cathedral of St. Louis, the Fox Theatre, lunch atthe Cupples House on the Saint Louis University campus, and aride through Forest Park with a stop at the St. Louis ScienceCenter.

Participants will receive a guided tour of the Cathedral of St.Louis. It was built in 1907 with exterior architecture of theRomanesque style and an interior of the Byzantine tradition with83,000 square feet of Mosaic Art. Next, a guided tour of theFox Theatre which opened in 1929 as one of the most beautifulmovie palaces in the United States. It was restored in 1982 andstill is in use. Lunch will be served at the Cupples House onthe Saint Louis University campus. Built in 1889, it has 42 rooms,22 fireplaces, art, and lavish woodwork. Afternoon activitiesinclude a drive through Forest Park, home of the 1904 World'sFair, with a stop at the St. Louis Science Center.

TUESDAY, May 13, 9:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Tour of the Missouri Botanical Gardens, Union Station, 9th StreetAbbey, and the Anheuser-Busch Brewery.

You will begin the day with a tram tour of the Missouri BotanicalGardens, the oldest botanical garden in the country with rose,English Woodland, desert and Japanese gardens. On to St. LouisUnion Station, a National Landmark which was once the largestand busiest train station in the world. Restored to its formergrandeur, the shed contains a festive marketplace with shops,restaurants and entertainment. Lunch will be served at PattyLong's 9th Street Abbey. In the afternoon you will visit theAnheuser-Busch Brewery which includes the Budweiser Clydesdalestables, the lager cellar, and Bevo packaging operations. Thistour ends with a stop at the Anheuser-Busch Hospitality Room.

Participants in the Companion Program will have access to a hospitalitysuite where a Continental Breakfast will be served Monday andTuesday. Estimated total cost of this two day package is $95.00.
