At CUMREC '96, you'll see demonstrations using the Webfor integrating mainframe and distributed data to improvecustomer service, modeling Business Processes, using Webtechnology for workflow management, and much more!
You'll find practical presentations by colleagues who knowObject Oriented development, Client/Server implementation inmission-critical systems, and Rapid Applications Development,among others!
CUMREC '96 will have more than a dozen presentationsdesigned to cover basic concepts in areas such as: gettingstarted with the World Wide Web, campus card technology,data warehousing, document imaging, and more!
WHAT'S NEW FOR '96?
We've added another track! The quality and diversity ofpapers submitted this year presented the opportunity to featuretwo concurrent presentation tracks of "Creative Solutions in theReal World".
We've added a new format! Presentations by panels ofcolleagues from single institutions to provide several perspec-tives on a single topic.
Another exciting new development is the "virtual track"made up of presentations crossing several of the official tracks.The Exposure Virtual Track will consist of more than a dozenpresentations providing solid, basic material on key concepts ofvarious technologies including the World Wide Web, datawarehousing, network architecture, document imaging,authentication, decision support systems (DSS), resumescanning and many others. These sessions are aimed at thosewho wish to gain a general understanding of these technologies. The Small College Virtual Track will highlight excitingpresentations by people from smaller colleges of interest topeople from both small and large institutions. The presentationsmaking up these virtual tracks will be identified in the program.

Underneath it all: Infrastructure & Support
Presentations on new directions in computing services,networks, authentication and security, customer support, ITfunding issues, and other things that keep us operating.
Web Innovation
Presentations on real, practical, and substantial uses of theWorld Wide Web. (You'll also find Web applications inseveral other program tracks.)
Hot Topics in Systems Development
Presentations such as Object Oriented development, therealities of Client/Server, Rapid Applications Development,and Decision Support Systems, to mention just a few.
Data, Data, Data
Presentations on data administration, data warehouse andaccess, data base tools, building and using metadata, andmanaging data at the enterprise level.
Managing Change
Presentations on 'people issues' in information technology:finding, training, keeping, motivating, organizing and retraining our staff. Resume Scanning technology and other humanresource applications will be featured in this track.
Creative Solutions in the Real World
In keeping with CUMREC's tradition as the conference thatfocuses on the practical side of the leading edge in informationtechnology, on real experiences more than interesting concepts,this is a double track featuring presentations on solutions toproblems that face us all, and insights to avoid possible pitfalls.
Gartner Track
A popular track at CUMREC '95, The Gartner Group isback with two sessions highlighting their Strategic PlanningAssumptions Update and other presentations to complementthe program.
There's more! There will be two cross-track time slots forcorporate presentations and Special Interest Group sessions inareas like legacy system migration, data administration, andweb site administration. Additional group sessions will bediscussed over CUMREC-L to find topics that are of currentinterest to you.
Altogether, the preliminary program for CUMREC '96includes 34 presentations by institutional colleagues, 4 casestudies jointly presented by institutional colleagues andvendors, 6 presentations by panels of colleagues from singleinstitutions, 5 forums bringing together people from multipleinstitutions to present on a topic, 8 special interest groupsessions, 14 vendor presentations, and 6 presentations by theGartner Group.
We have a sense of excitement about this year's conferencetheme and hope the CUMREC members share our excitement.We believe the CUMREC '96 program will leave attendeeswishing they could be in two places (or more!) at once, withpanels and presentations of value right up to the last minute ofthe conference! So book early to stay late at CUMREC '96!
