| The highest mountain on the Atlantic Coast is Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park, Maine. The Cadillac reaches a breathtaking height of (you better sit down for this) 1532 feet above sea level! OK, not exactly the Swiss Alps but if you ever get asked this question on Jeopardy, at least you'll get one right. And I'm told the view of the Atlantic Coast from the top is worth the trip. | ![]() |
| By comparison, the Sears Tower in Chicago tops out at 1454 feet, a mere 78 feet shorter but without a view of the Atlantic. The highest mountain in the Western Hemisphere, Nevedo Aconcagua in Argentina, is 22,834 feet. You could put almost fifteen Cadillac Mountains in Nevado Aconcagua! Hah! If I lived in Maine, I'd be real careful about calling that speed bump a mountain. Maine, by the way, is the only state whose name is just one syllable, not that that's a bad thing. |
